Mentor one child. Change two lives. About Mentoring and Why
One of the most important aspects of the Computers4Kids program is the mentoring we provide to our students. All students who complete the training class are matched with a mentor. The mentor meets with the student for about one hour per week to provide educational support and serve as a role model and advocate.
Mentors are adults who, along with parents, provide young people with support, counsel, friendship, positive reinforcement, and constructive example. Mentors are good listeners who want to help young people bring out strengths they already have.
How to Get Started
In order to get started mentoring with Computers4Kids volunteers must first attend an orientation session. To sign up and learn when our next orientation will be, please submit an online application, found at www.computers4kids.net/forms/mentor. Because mentors work with youth, all trained mentors are subject to a felony background check.
